It's The Aquabats Aquacadet semi-quarterly (sometimes more, sometimes less) newsletter! So much is UP!
But first, how are all of you? Doing good? Staying rad? Being rad? Eating your vegetables? We have a lot to cover in this newsletter, so let's get into it!
PREVIOUS QUARTER REVIEW
We'll take this back to December when we got to see many of you at our first Cadet Summit in about 20 years! We had an amazing time with you all and having it sandwiched between our two Glasshouse shows meant many cadets came in from out of town and made a weekend of it.

Seeing so many of you meeting up with people you know mostly through online connections was the ultimate. Nothing better than hanging out with friends at a show (more about shows later!).
January & February were pretty chill. We got to reset our barings, gloopy got to clean up the warehouse and organize space so there is room to prepare for tour (later!).
March we had an amazing time at Punk In The Park. We got the Super Show! DVD/Blu-Ray up for pre-order, shipping in a few weeks! Finally!

CADET SPOTLIGHT
This newsletter we are featuring Chynna Jenkins, creator of Psychic Friends and longtime cadet! We worked with Chynna on a new collab featuring her Martian Girl inspired art. Check out Psychic Friends by clicking here and be sure to follow Chynna on socials. @psychicfriendsclub!

Q: How long have you been an aquabats fan?
A: A friend lent me Fury of The Aquabats in 1999 when I was 13 (Thanks Jalata!). I also have a Lil’ Bat tattoo on my wrist.
Q: What inspired you to start rug tufting?
A: During 2020, right when Covid hit, I started to see rug-making videos pop up on Instagram and I knew I had to learn one way or another. It was the perfect way for me to dive into fiber arts and apply my ideas to rugs!
Q: How did the idea for Martian Girl come about?
A: The idea came from an Instagram post about fan art, and I immediately set out to create something. I wanted to bridge my love for music and illustration, especially with The Aquabats, because their lyrics lend to so much imagination. An illustration turned into a tufted rug, and I ended up emailing Gloopy. The rest is history :)
Q: What is your fav aquabats song?
A: There are so, so many but its a tie between Adventure Today! and Danger Woman.
Q: What do you love about the Aquabats and cadet community?
A: I’ve been a fan for years but didn’t become a cadet until last year and attended a cadet summit. To witness the pure, unadulterated happiness of that gathering, the sight of generations sharing a love for this band was humbling. It feels really special to be a part of the group :)
Q: What is the last concert you went to?
A: Punk in the Park, to see Aquabats, Lagwagon and Pulley of course!
Q: Advice to other artists trying to make creative work work in this crazy world?
A: My dad always told me to not wait to be creative. There’s never a perfect time to start and don’t wait too long to do so. This is coming from someone who is a phenomenal artist but was only really able to flourish as they entered retirement. Don’t wait too long to do something you’ve always wanted to do ;) Creativity is the only way to combat the ways of the world.
THE QUESTIONS WE WILL ALWAYS ASK EVERYONE FOR ANY Q&A!
Q: 5 songs you want to rec to other cadets by any artist?
A:
Jawbreaker -“Bad Scene, Everyone’s Fault"
The Mighty Mighty Bostones - "You Gotta Go!”
Mrs. Magician- “Nightlife"
The Chinkees - "You Don’t Know"
Remember Sports - "I Liked You Best”
Q: 5 TV show episodes to rec to other cadets of any show?
A:
This is England '86
Common Side Effects
New Wave Theater (on Youtube)
Daria
Batman: The Animated Series
Q: 1 VHS cassette tape you would take with you on a desert island?
A: The Beatles Yellow Submarine
Q: Favorite person in the whole world?
A: My other half, Mason.
Q: Thing that always makes you happy when you are feeling down?
I love music videos. I grew up absorbing 120mins on MTV so If i’m feeling down, you can find me watching my favorite music videos and singing along.
Next newsletter we'll be featuring another cadet or Aquabania celebrity! Look out!
LEGION OUTPOST UPDATE
A major project towards the end of last year was the establishing of our first Cadet Legion Outposts. We now have over 30 legion outposts across the US in classrooms, libraries and a few admin offices. We have begun setting up sibling schools to write letters and support each other. On tour this summer we plan on having school supply drives at our merch table to collect supplies to send to our outposts to support kids learning and creating. If you know someone interested in becoming an outpost or want to become an outpost, email gloopy for info. If you have ideas you can share for activities, actions, or anything else for improving the Legion Outpost program, please send them. We're new to this and are very open to ideas!
Here is Legion Outpost #0030 playing at the Punk Rock Museums 2 year anniversary last weekend. Pretty cool!
CADET ACTION
If you are looking for some do gooding to do, consider setting up a supply drive to send to our LA outpost. We are working on preparing supply kits for students and teachers displaced by the LA fires and the more items the merrier. Please email admin@gloopy.industries for info on what supplies are needed and where you can send them!
WAOW!! Love this newsletter! Love the words "SUMMER TOUR" as well!!
